What TryYourGear is
TryYourGear is a set of free, browser-based tools to quickly check whether your keyboard, mouse, microphone, webcam, controller, monitor and other hardware are working correctly — no downloads, no install.
Who's behind it
TryYourGear is currently run by Víctor González. This is an independent project, not affiliated with any hardware manufacturer.
How the tools are built
Each tool is built directly on standard browser APIs (Web Audio, MediaDevices, Gamepad API, Keyboard/Pointer events). We only claim what those APIs can actually measure, and we say so clearly when a browser can't give an exact, hardware-level reading — for example, mouse polling rate can only be estimated, not measured precisely, from a web page.
Our commitment to privacy
Most tests run in your browser, and the microphone and webcam tests process audio and video locally: we don't upload, record on a server, or store your audio or video. The Network Latency Test is the exception: it sends small requests to the TryYourGear server to measure latency. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How this site is funded
TryYourGear is free to use. It doesn't currently show advertising or affiliate links, and it doesn't sell user data. If that changes in the future, we will say so here and update the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Affiliate Disclosure.
