Most tests run in your browser: keyboard, mouse, click speed, reaction time, typing, controller, speaker, monitor and refresh rate. What you press, click or type is not sent to our servers.

The microphone and webcam tests ask for your browser's permission (getUserMedia) and process audio and video locally in your browser. We do not upload, record on a server or store your audio or video.

The Network Latency Test is different. To measure the round-trip time between your browser and TryYourGear, it sends a small number of requests from your browser to a TryYourGear endpoint (/api/ping), which answers with an empty response. The requests carry nothing you typed or recorded, and TryYourGear does not store the results.

The site is hosted on the platform of Netlify, Inc. Whenever your browser loads a page or calls /api/ping, it connects to servers run by the hosting provider, which receives the technical data needed to deliver the site (for example your IP address, the address requested and browser information) and may keep it in its own technical logs. Apart from Google Analytics, which only runs if you accept it (see “Analytics” below), TryYourGear does not add analytics or tracking to these requests.

Netlify, Inc. is based in the United States, so this data may be processed outside the European Economic Area.

If you switch language with the language selector, TryYourGear sets one cookie, tryyourgear_locale, that stores your choice (en or es) so that the home page opens in that language on your next visit. Without that choice the site does not set it. It uses your browser's local storage only to remember your choice on the cookie notice and your best scores in the Click Speed and Reaction Time tests; this data stays in your browser. If you choose “Accept all” on the cookie notice, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (see “Analytics” below). See our Cookie Policy for details.

The Contact page currently offers a direct email address instead of a form. If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to respond to your request. We do not sell this data to third parties.

Messages sent to the contact address are received through an email forwarding service (Cloudflare Email Routing) and delivered to the site owner's mailbox, so they are also handled by that service and by the mailbox provider.

TryYourGear uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how the site is used. It is off by default: it only runs if you choose “Accept all” on the cookie notice. If you choose “Reject non-essential”, or have not chosen yet, the Google Analytics script is not loaded and no analytics data is sent to Google.

If you accept, Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart and receives usage data such as the pages you view, an approximate location derived from your connection, your device, browser and language, and a small set of events: starting and finishing the Click Speed, Reaction Time, Refresh Rate and Network Latency tests, switching language, and clicking the contact email link. As with any web request, Google's servers also receive your IP address. The events do not include anything you type, say or record, your test results or your email address.

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page. Choosing “Reject non-essential” there switches Google Analytics off and removes its cookies from your browser. Deleting this site's cookies and local storage in your browser also makes the cookie notice appear again.

Neither is active today. Should any be introduced, this policy and the Cookie Policy will be updated and your consent will be requested where required.

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR in the EU), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact contact@tryyourgear.com.

You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).

We may update this policy as the site evolves (e.g. when advertising or affiliate links are introduced). Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
