Cookie Policy

TryYourGear sets one cookie of its own, and only when you switch language with the language selector:

tryyourgear_locale: remembers the language you chose (en or es) so that the home page opens in that language on your next visit. It stores only that value. Lifetime: 1 year. It is a first-party cookie and it does not depend on your choice on the cookie notice.

If you choose “Accept all” on the cookie notice, the Google Analytics script is loaded and sets two more first-party cookies in your browser:

_ga: identifies your browser so that visits can be told apart. Lifetime set by Google Analytics: up to two years (some browsers, such as Chrome, cap it at 400 days).

_ga_7NWEMRFHNR: keeps the state of your current session. Lifetime set by Google Analytics: up to two years (same browser caps).

These cookies are only set after you accept. If you choose “Reject non-essential”, or have not chosen yet, they are not set and the Google Analytics script is not loaded. If you reject after having accepted, Google Analytics is switched off and these two cookies are removed.

The site does use your browser's local storage (localStorage). It is not a cookie, but it is a similar technology that keeps small pieces of data on your device. It is used for:

Your choice on the cookie notice (key hwtest-cookie-consent), so the notice is not shown again.

Your best score in the Click Speed Test (key hwtest_click_speed_best_cps) and the Reaction Time Test (key hwtest_reaction_time_best_avg_ms), so it can be shown again in your browser.

This data stays in your browser: TryYourGear does not send it to a server.

The site does not currently use session storage, IndexedDB or similar technologies to store information about you.

The site uses Google Analytics 4. It is off by default and only runs after you choose “Accept all”, using the cookies listed above and sending usage data to Google as described in our Privacy Policy. Until you accept, the site tells Google (through Google's Consent Mode) that analytics storage is denied, and it does not load the Google Analytics script; “Reject non-essential” keeps it that way. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Not active: the site does not display advertising and does not use Google Ads or Google AdSense. Note that “Accept all” also tells Google that you consent to its advertising-related storage (ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization), as part of Google's Consent Mode; no advertising features are set up on the site. If an ad network is enabled in the future, this page will be updated to list what is used, and your consent will be requested before it is set.

You can delete or block cookies, and clear site data (including local storage), at any time in your browser settings. Clearing local storage removes your saved best scores and your choice on the cookie notice, which will then appear again. If you delete the tryyourgear_locale cookie, the site goes back to choosing the language of the home page from your browser's language settings until you switch language again.

If you accepted Google Analytics and want to withdraw your consent, open “Cookie settings” in the footer and choose “Reject non-essential”: Google Analytics stops measuring and its cookies are removed. Deleting this site's cookies and local storage in your browser also brings the cookie notice back.
